MISSION STATEMENT
To educate school aged youth about the dangers of gang involvement. To de-mystify gangs and address the media’s portrayal of gang members, in television and movies. To teach youths to Say No Thank you, and walk away. To promote positive decision making skills and give alternatives to joining a gang. To encourage positive self-image and self-esteem, self discipline and demonstrate socially acceptable behavior during later unsupervised activities.
OBJECTIVES OF THE GATE PROGRAM
Objective #1 - TO VALUE DECISIONS THEY MAKE, AND TO UNDERSTAND THE DANGERS OF JOINING A GANG.
Objective #2 - TO RESPECT LAWS AND RULES PROHIBITING GANGS
Objective #3 - TO EDUCATE ABOUT THE DANGERS OF DRUGS AND REMAINING DRUG FREE
Objective #4 - TO RECOGNIZE AND RESIST PRESSURES OF GANGS
Objective #5 - TO PROMOTE ACTIVITIES THAT REINFORCE THE POSITIVE, GANG FREE ELEMENTS OF STUDENT LIFE.
Objective #6 - TO PROMOTE THE REDUCTION OF GUN VIOLENCE AND THE PROLIFERATION OF ACTS OF VIOLENCE COMMITTED WITH WEAPONS.
